On 25 August 2022, the first SME Tax Forum took place at the Technopark in Vaduz – initiated and organized by Red Leafs Tax AG for entrepreneurs from Liechtenstein and Eastern Switzerland. The objective was to address current tax topics from a business perspective – practical, concise, and with space for exchange and networking.
Tax Topics with an Entrepreneurial Focus
Experts from business, public administration, and consultancy explored tax matters relevant to SMEs – hands-on and from an entrepreneurial standpoint. The evening was opened by Christof Högger, founding partner of Kontivia AG, with an introductory talk on succession planning. Dr Florian Hanslik, partner at VATastic AG, then followed with insights into VAT challenges within the EU.
After a short networking break featuring a beer tasting, an inspiring keynote was delivered by Daniel Hünebeck on the future-oriented topic of the “Metaverse” and its relevance for SMEs.
Next came three practical Tax Talks offering different perspectives: Martin Bühler, Head of Corporate Tax at the Liechtenstein Tax Administration, kicked off the round with current developments in corporate tax law. Cherie Lehmann of Aspect Advisory then addressed the risks associated with cross-border business activities. The session concluded with Arijana Walcott, founding partner of DART Ventures, who provided insights from the perspective of startups and investors.
The evening ended with an Apéro Riche, giving participants the opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere and to establish new connections.
A Format That’s Here to Stay
The SME Tax Forum 2022 marked the launch of a new event format that was met with great interest. The goal is to regularly offer companies in the Principality of Liechtenstein and Switzerland a platform to discuss tax developments, share experiences, and gain new perspectives. The next edition is already planned for spring 2023.
