On March 20, 2026, the annual STEP Hungary Conference will take place in Budapest under the title “Cross-border wealth structuring in Central Europe and beyond.” The conference is organized by STEP Hungary in cooperation with the Budapest Bar Association and brings together internationally renowned experts in trusts, wealth structuring, and cross-border tax planning.
Red Leafs Tax will be represented: Priska Rösli, Senior Partner at Red Leafs Tax, will participate as a speaker on the panel “Taxation of Cross-Border Structures – Part I (Inbound),” moderated by Dr. Csaba Magyar, LL.M, TEP. She will be joined by fellow speakers Peter Rybaltovszki TEP and Michael Michaelides. The panel will explore the tax implications arising when foreign trusts or foundations acquire assets in another country – including Hungary – or when beneficiaries are not tax resident in the respective jurisdiction. Through practical case studies, the discussion will examine current interpretations by tax authorities as well as emerging trends. Country-specific insights from Cyprus, Liechtenstein, and New Zealand will provide comparative perspectives on structuring options and typical pitfalls.
The conference program includes several panels addressing key topics in international wealth planning – ranging from the regulation of trusts and foundations in Central Europe to succession planning for internationally connected families, as well as the tax and legal challenges related to outbound investments by Hungarian trusts.
