On 25 May 2023, the second edition of the SME Tax Forum took place at the Buchserhof in Buchs SG – an event format organized by Red Leafs Tax AG for entrepreneurs from Liechtenstein and Eastern Switzerland. Once again, this edition offered a platform for tax topics of entrepreneurial relevance – concise, practice-oriented, and with room for exchange, discussion, and networking.

Current Topics – Clear and with an entrepreneurial mindset
The evening began with engaging expert presentations on current developments: Dr Pascal Domenig, founding partner at Domenig Legal, opened the forum with a talk on the challenges of mobile, cross-border work – from both a social security and tax law perspective. He was followed by Dr Tobias Trütsch from the University of St. Gallen, who spoke about the future of digital payment methods and the declining role of cash.
A particular highlight was the keynote by Marianne Nufer, co-owner of ANMA Consulting AG. She demonstrated how artificial intelligence is already being used in tax administration in the Canton of Obwalden – and what potential this holds for the future of tax practice.
Tax Talks with Practical Application
After a brief networking break, two practice-focused “Tax Talks” followed: Patrizia Wachter Tanner, Managing Director of Prefera Immobilien AG, explored current tax topics relating to real estate. She was followed by Daniel Immoos, Head of Occupational Pensions at St. Galler Kantonalbank, who offered insights into challenges and structuring opportunities in the area of occupational pension schemes.
To conclude the evening, an apéro provided the opportunity for informal exchange and further discussion of the evening’s key takeaways.
A Format That Resonates
The second edition of the SME Tax Forum was once again very well received by participants. The event offered not only professional insights, but also valuable opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs from the region. A successful evening – and further proof of just how relevant tax issues remain for day-to-day business practice.
